Do not dispose of hot briquettes/embers in garbage cans or in any park location.Avoid damage: Do not place hot barbecues on plastic picnic tables or benches.Open fires/flames are only allowed in designated fire pits.Outdoor propane or briquette barbecues are welcome in most Penticton parks and beaches, providing: When the sun comes out, so do the BBQ tongs. Sudbury Beach at Skaha Lake: One is on the beach just west of the parking lot and concession.Skaha Beach: Two are located on the beach along the promenade, near the volleyball courts.Okanagan Beach: Two are located on the beach near the intersection of Power Street and Lakeshore Drive (across from Lakawanna Park).Note that during hot weather, the pits may be closed and temporarily removed at the discretion of the City's Public Works Department. If the metal fire pit rings can be seen on the beach, fires are allowed. For information about outdoor fires, visit the Fire Department's Outdoor Burning webpage. Please bring your own firewood (no pallets, no prohibited materials, no metal or nails). These can be used on a first-come, first-serve basis. At certain times throughout the year, you'll find fire pits in the sand that are available for public use. Here in Penticton, we love an opportunity to gather on the beach. Please note that no open burning is allowed within the City of Penticton boundaries until further notice, this includes use of fire pits at both Skaha and Okanagan beaches.
